Musgrave Northern Ireland has announced the opening of a new £0.5m Centra store on the Stewartstown Road, following the acquisition of the former Mace store.
Centra Foxes Glen is a brand new 3,000 sq ft store and six-pump Circle K petrol forecourt and is part of Musgrave NI’s company-owned portfolio. Supporting 21 jobs in the area including 10 new positions, it combines convenience with an extensive food-to-go grocery offering.
Officially opening the store were local Glendowan Football Club coaches Martin Duffy and Eddie Mulligan who received a donation of £1,000 for the Under 6s, Under 9s and U14 teams. The donation will pay for kits for three teams and sponsor one of the teams participating in the Foyle Cup.
The major investment in the store offers a bright and contemporary shopping environment and a comprehensive range, including a deli counter where shoppers can enjoy freshly made sandwiches and salads, or a selection of hot foods to go. A range of in-store baked breads and pastries is also available plus a Moo’d ice cream counter offering a selection of sweet treats including whirlies, sundaes, and milkshakes.
Shoppers can also enjoy a hot drink to go with the Frank and Honest Coffee 2.0 dock. The gourmet coffee brand, which has an environmental pledge at its core, features 100% compostable coffee cups, plastic free coffee capsules and Rainforest Alliance certified coffee beans. Customers can also benefit from the digital loyalty app which offers a free coffee after earning ten digital stamps.
Store manager Jim Brennan said: “The team and I are excited to open our fantastic brand new Centra store and welcome customers to enjoy and modern, bright, and spacious shopping environment. It will be a great amenity for the local community and on the go customers.
“With the cost of living still at a high, it’s clear that keeping household costs down is front of mind. As part of Centra’s commitment to value, our shoppers will benefit from over 200 special offers items every week and over 300 cheaper own brand products. That’s on top of our Epic Deals on four big brand products every three weeks. We hope shoppers will enjoy the extensive range as well as great value and service on offer.
“As a community retailer, we’re also delighted to welcome the coaches from the local football team, Glendowan FC, to our official launch and to make a donation of £1000 to the club’s funds.”
The store has been built with sustainability in mind as Musgrave works to achieve its net zero ambition by 2040.
Musgrave NI’s Head of Retail Operations Caroline Rowan explains: “As part of Musgrave NI’s company-owned portfolio, we have significantly invested in new energy saving technology. The store is powered using green electricity and features new digital screens, energy efficient LED lighting, a top-grade energy efficient refrigeration system and electronic shelf edge labels, making the store as efficient and green as possible.
“Musgrave NI also supports local, spending more than £160m on local food and drink annually. We work with more than 3,000 local farmers, partner with over 150 local suppliers and stock over 3,500 local products across our stores.”
