Tesco Ireland has opened a new store in Belmayne, Co Dublin, creating 16 new jobs. The brand-new store is in Balgriffin, north County Dublin is the retailers 190th store and is part of a modern housing development serving the local community.
Local suppliers Manning’s Bakery, Keoghs crisps and Oishi Foods are just some of the great local producers who will be found on the shelves in Belmayne. The store has also been fitted with several energy-saving measures, such as doors on fridges, which will help reduce energy consumption.
Paul Healy, Retail Operations Director, Tesco Ireland said: “We are very pleased to open this new store in Belmayne, which is part of our ongoing investment in stores in urban centres across Dublin. We look forward to playing a playing a big part in the local community in the future and getting to know our new customers.”
The new store was officially opened by Store Manager, Emma Doyle who will lead a team of 16 colleagues. At the opening she said: “Myself and my team having been working hard over the last few weeks to get the store ready for today’s opening. We are looking forward to welcoming our new customers, and we cannot wait to actively engage with the community.”
Tesco is a proud supporter of the communities it serves. To date its Community Fund has helped support thousands of organisations across the country from GAA clubs to children’s charities. In its first campaign, the Belmayne store will support the locality with donations to three local causes including Trinity Donaghmede FC, St Kevin’s Junior National School and Donaghmede Men’s Shed.
Through the food surplus redistribution programme, FoodCloud partners and OLIO Food Waste Heroes will be on hand to ensure no good food goes to waste. The Howth team will also join Tesco’s continued efforts to support its charity partner, Children’s Health Foundation which supports all sick children in CHI at Crumlin, Connolly, Temple St, and Tallaght hospitals.
