Aldi has opened a new €8 million store in Moate, Co. Westmeath, creating 30 permanent jobs and bringing its Irish store network to 168.
The supermarket on Athlone Road welcomed its first customers on Thursday, 29 October. It is Aldi’s fifth store in Westmeath, where the retailer first established a presence in Athlone in 2004.
Store manager Fiona Smith and the local Aldi team were joined for the official opening by Minister for Enterprise, Tourism and Employment Peter Burke and Minister of State Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran. Aldi’s Kevin the Carrot mascot also attended the celebrations.
The opening extends Aldi’s presence in the Midlands, providing shoppers in Moate and the surrounding area with another local grocery option while supporting permanent employment in the town.
The store opens from 8am to 10pm Monday to Saturday and from 9am to 9pm on Sundays and bank holidays.
