esco Ireland in mid-August opened the doors to a brand-new Tesco store at South Lotts, Dublin 4. The new store was officially opened this morning by recently appointed store manager, Craig Rogers, who welcomed the first customers into the 6,252-square-foot store which is bringing employment and choice to the local community.
Geoff Byrne, Chief Operating Officer, Tesco Ireland said: “We’re delighted to open the doors of South Lotts today. This is the third of many store openings this year and it’s just as exciting now as it was 25 years ago, when the first stores opened in Ireland. We welcome South Lotts to our store network as we celebrate 25 years in Ireland, we’re committed to ensuring that our stores play a big part in local communities and we’re looking forward to serving the community for many years to come.”
Tesco South Lotts will be managed by Craig Rogers, an experienced store manager, who previously managed Tesco Camden Street.
Craig Rogers, Store Manager, Tesco South Lotts added: “It’s a big day for the team here as we officially open South Lotts and it’s great to see customers coming through the doors already this morning. A lot of work has gone into opening today and I hope the customers can see that. The whole team and I are looking forward to meeting and getting to know the community.”
South Lotts is the 154th Tesco store in Ireland providing supports to communities. Three local groups Ringsend & Irishtown Community Centre, Ringsend GNS and Clanna Gael Fontenoy GAA Club will feel the benefit of donations from the Community Fund in the coming weeks. Colleagues in South Lotts will join the over 13,000 other Tesco colleagues across Ireland in their fundraising efforts for Children’s Health Foundation, supporting sick children and their families in CHI hospitals and urgent care centres at Crumlin, Temple Street, Tallaght and Connolly.
As well as the new green living roof to store rainwater and absorb C02, Tesco continues to commit to its sustainability strategy, as the South Lotts store has been fitted with carbon-free heating, cooling utilising electric heat pumps and heat recovered from the fridge packs. Our new chilled fridges will also have doors and there will be the latest generation LED lighting throughout the store.
The 25 roles have been recruited via internal and external recruitment drives. Tesco employs more than 13,000 colleagues across Ireland.
