Lidl agrees €90 million potato supply deal with Meade Farm

3 Nov, 2026

Lidl Ireland has announced a five-year potato supply agreement worth more than €90 million with Meath-based Meade Farm, extending a partnership that began in 2000.

The agreement will secure potato supplies for the retailer into the next decade while giving the family business greater certainty over production, land requirements, employment and future investment.

Founded in 1982 by Philip Sr. and Emily Meade, the Lobinstown company has developed into a major grower, packer and distributor of fresh produce. Its relationship with Lidl began with a delivery of seven pallets of potatoes.

Meade Farm is now run by the next generation of the family, including Philip Jr., Patrick and Eleanor, with Philip Sr. remaining involved.

Kevin Duffy, chief commercial officer at Lidl Ireland and Northern Ireland, said the agreement would help both businesses plan for growth while maintaining a reliable supply of Irish-grown potatoes.

Eleanor Meade said the commitment would support investment in modern farming practices and succession planning, with benefits extending to employees and the company’s network of growers.

While the new contract relates specifically to potatoes, Meade Farm also supplies Lidl with other fresh produce, including carrots, broccoli, salads and pumpkins.
